Bill Farrington, Director, Marketing, Program & HR committees Bill graduated from USC and has 5 years of experience as a retail store owner and a 31-year career with ASICS America as National Team Sales Manager. Through his previous business connections, he has secured official Tremble Clefs performance shirts and other TC logo sale items. Bill came to Tremble Clefs as a musician and with choral experience in several excellent community and church choirs. He is married to Barbara, his wife of 50 years, and is the father of three. He was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2002.
Lisa Garvey, Recording Secretary Lisa is a third-generation San Diegan, who joined Tremble Clefs with her husband, Jeff, in 2019. She has served on the Board of her church which included two terms as secretary and also as Finance Committee chair. She and Jeff were involved in singing, church choirs and a garage band for many years before his diagnosis. Lisa explains her commitment to Tremble Clefs as follows. “Strong leadership is key to the success of any organization. Tremble Clefs is such a worthy endeavor… and I value the well-being and camaraderie that comes from choral singing.”
Karen Hesley, President, Marketing, Program & HR committees In 1994, Karen developed the first therapeutic singing group for Parkinson’s people in Phoenix, Az. She directed the Tremble Clefs in Arizona and then San Diego. In 2015, she retired as musical director to help build the current non-profit organization, Tremble Clefs San Diego. Karen is a retired speech therapist with MA degrees in Linguistics and Communication Disorders. Her interest in Parkinson’s voice began with her LSVT patients (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment) and she continues to be dedicated to the mission of the Tremble Clefs.
Leigh Johnson, Director, Governance committee Chair Leigh comes to our Board with experience in applied research and community education and has served on various councils, committees and recently as board member of her homeowners association. Leigh has internet outreach experience as well as interests in strategic planning, fundraising and community outreach. She has been a participant in the San Diego Tremble Clefs since 2017 and a board member since 2018. She is also involved in other Parkinson’s support organizations and helped initiate “Flying Solo”, a support group for Parkinson’s people.
Sammy KnightActing Treasurer, Marketing committee Sammy is a retired attorney from Virginia. He has served with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission and as Chief of Military Justice at the 2nd Armored Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Both before and after retirement, he has held a number of volunteer positions with professional, community and charitable organizations. Since moving to San Diego, he has served as President of the Eagle Scout Alumni Association of San Diego and as Chairman of Mission District of the Boy Scouts of America. He has been a member of Tremble Clefs since 2014.
