Review by Karen Hesely -- On May 20, 2018 the Tremble Clefs hosted an inspired benefit concert presented by our accompanist, Deanna Hastings, and our own Matt Ignacio who sang a very moving solo titled "Anytime". The setting was the sanctuary of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Lemon Grove where Deanna played the impressive organ with artistry and finesse. Her choice of numbers and her interpretations of the music enthralled the audience which included a great turnout of Tremble Clefs as well as others from the community and families totaling over 100.
The artistic presentation included multi-sensory, digital creations by Matt who brought to the large screen touching landscapes during the "Prayer from Finlandia" and again during Dvorak's "Going Home" from the New World Symphony. Other program items included 2 pieces by Bach, "A Mighty Fortress is our God" and a beautiful rendition on the piano of "Gift to be Simple". Kudos to Deanna for an outstanding performance and to Matt for sharing his beautiful voice and innovative talents in the multi-media arena; the Tremble Clefs were delighted to be the recipient of this fundraising effort. Thank you to all who attended and our sincere gratitude to Deanna and Matt for a powerful musical experience.
