Matt Ignacio
Music Director
Howdy everyone, I’m Matt Ignacio! I feel so lucky to share my love of music, singing, and theatre all over San Diego.
I’m a music director, singer, and performer in the SD community but not many know that my educational background is actually in Linguistics and Psychology! That’s why I’m so proud to direct the Tremble Clefs–where my passions beautifully combine and the benefits of singing are showcased front and center.
In 2011, I was chosen as SDSU’s Outstanding Graduating Senior for not only the Linguistics program but the whole College of Arts and Letters.
I’ve since been certified as an instructor for the SongShine Program and trained in the Ronnie Gardiner Method.
In addition to San Diego’s Tremble Clefs groups, I direct the Glenaires choir at La Costa Glen and serve as music director at St. John of the Cross Church. I perform as a vocalist and musician throughout the county, as a founding member of A cappella groups the San Diego Zoo Explorers and the Seaside Serenaders, as well as with the Tinseltone Carolers.
I was asked to sing the Filipino national anthem for the grand opening of the House of the Philippines in Balboa Park.
Over the past 10+ years, I’ve musically directed productions with theatre companies and schools all over San Diego including: Blindspot Collective, Center Stage Productions, JCompany, Moonlight Youth Theatre, Project Performer, San Diego Musical Theatre, Teatro San Diego, Tenth Avenue Arts, and Young Actors’ Theatre.
Getting to know me!:
On my long drives, I actually prefer listening to podcasts over music! My favorites are about theme parks (“For Your Amusement”) and tv show re-watches (“The Office Ladies”). In fact, here’s me winning “The Office” tv trivia onboard a cruise!
I’m a huge lover of animals! My family and I adopted our rescue dog Ariel in 2017!
I’m a big supporter of the arts and my favorite pastime is watching live theatre and concerts. I also enjoy playing AR mobile games Pokemon Go and Pikmin Bloom.
You can also get to know more about me here, representing Tremble Clefs in the Choral Consortium of San Diego’s first ever “Conductor Conversations” video:
Happy singing to you!
